Prayer and Worship at Holy Rood

‘The family of Holy Rood School will try to live, learn, grow and celebrate together, as friends, through the love of Christ.’
Our mission statement describes a child’s movement through our living faith community during their years with us; from small child to young adolescent. It mentions that this journey will take place through the love of Christ, with Him as their constant companion whilst at Holy Rood and much further beyond. At our school we recognise the central role that prayer and worship play in an active faith community and in all members of that community bearing witness to the Good News of the Gospels; none more so than for our pupils embarking on their own journeys in faith.
At Holy Rood Catholic Primary School, we provides times for daily prayer, Celebrations of The Word or liturgy in the following way:

Different forms of prayer and worship at Holy Rood
Times of prayer and worship at Holy Rood School aims to provide the opportunity for pupils, staff, families and, on occasion, the wider school community to:
- Contemplate something of the mystery of God
- Reflect upon spiritual/ moral issues
- Explore their own beliefs
- Respond to and celebrate life
- Experience a sense of belonging
- Develop a common ethos and shared values
- Enrich religious experience
- Grow in liturgical understanding and development
- Reinforce prayers which are part of Catholic tradition
- Take time to ‘wonder at’, ‘come to terms with’ and ‘give worth to.’
