House Saints
As well as class saints, we also have house saints.
At Holy Rood School we work really hard to demonstrate how we live, learn, grow and celebrate together, through the love of Christ.
We are all in House Teams (staff included) and can earn House Points for working and behaving to the best of our ability. For some school events, such as the Christmas talent show and Sports Day, we compete in our House Teams.
In 2017, we changed our House Saints to represent the diversity in our school community. The families of our school nominated saints, who were important to their family, to be considered and a short list was voted upon. The start of the academic year 2017 welcomed with it our new House Saints: St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Josephine Bakhita, St. Helen and St. Teresa of Calcutta.
Each year, two House Captains and two Vice Captains are voted in to represent each of our 4 houses.
This year, our House Captains and Vice Captains are as follow:
House Captain | Vice House Captains | |
St. Teresa of Calcutta | Liam and Amaya | Regan and Emily |
St. Josephine Bakhita | Alyssa and Finlay | Hunter and Thomas |
St. Thomas Aquinas | Daniel and Daphne | Louie and Ana |
St. Helen | Mia and Maximo | Tyler O and Katharine |

As part of Home Learning, our pupils have been learning about the Saint of the house they belong to. Have a look at a few examples of their work:
