Design and Technology
Design and technology aims to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding of how to develop ideas, plan their designs, make products before evaluating and eventually improving them. This is achieved through whole-class teaching, individual/group activities and in the EYFS during child initiated learning. Within lessons, we give children the opportunity both to work on their own and to collaborate with others, listening to other children’s ideas and treating these with respect. Children critically evaluate existing products, their own work and that of others. They have the opportunity to use a wide range of tool, materials and resources in the completion of their work. Technology can be seen in many different forms at our school from food technology and woodwork to computer-aided design and electrical mechanisms.
