Computing
Pupils will gain a rich, deep learning experience, covering all aspects of computing in their lessons. The wealth of resources available to pupils enables them to develop their experience and understanding of computing technology, which will help to prepare them for the future. Our pupils can use laptops and iPads in the classroom to support research tasks and they will also use design programs and software to support their learning in Art & Design and Design and Technology. The use of computing is greatly encouraged in all areas of the curriculum, such as Maths and Science, which will help pupils to build in confidence and develop their skills further. In discrete Computing lessons, our teachers follow the 'Purple Mash' Scheme of Work, which shows a clear progression in skills and understanding of computing from Year 1 up to Year 6. Most importantly, throughout the scheme pupils are taught how to stay safe when using the internet and other computing technology. Safety in the digital world is a main focus in the computing curriculum across all of the key stages at Holy Rood School.
