Art and Design Technology
At Holy Rood, we intend for every child to consider themselves an artist. We believe that Art and Design are not only central to our school’s curriculum but also central to the growth and development of imaginative and emotionally literate young people. We aim to provide a high-quality Art and Design education that engages, inspires and challenges pupils. We aim to equip our pupils them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art and design.
Through our Design Technology curriculum, we intend for every child to have the opportunity to develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. In addition to this, we want our children to build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users. Finally, our curriculum design enables children to analyse, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others as well as understand and apply the principles of nutrition and have basic cooking skills.
